MORE SHOW AND TELL…

What could be better on a dreary cold rainy day that hooking or punching up something fun and funky…(well that was yesterday – today is gorgeous although the blood sucking, chomping down on flesh, black flies are in abundance!)…

Diane finished punching and mounting these pieces and finished her Jonah in the Whale(pattern by Woolensails)…

Linda finished punching another piece (her own design) to be donated to the animal shelter fundraising…

Finished mounting Eat Crow on a vintage shoe shine box – I removed the shoe from the top and then sanded, painted, sanded again and antiqued the box before mounting my crow. Happy with the way it turned out – this piece will be for sale…

I was given a bag full of goodies by a friend who had decided that a pattern I had drawn out for her a few years ago for mini punch needle was never going to get punched. When I looked at the pattern I immediately understood why – it was huge!!! 11 x 8.5 inches – way bigger than even I wanted to attempt. So, I decided to take a bit of artistic license and crop it down to a manageable size. So this is my cropped version (and somewhat edited) of Karla Gerard’s Folkart Farm pattern mounted on a vintage watering can – I thought a glass vase inside (the can is not water tight anymore haha) with a few spring or summer blooms would be nice…another piece I will be listing…as you can see there are no spring blooms in my garden yet – just greenery!…

ANOTHER PUNCH NEEDLE FINISHED..

A few days ago I drew out one of my lovely Ann Hallett patterns, Eat Crow, for Debbie. I have always loved this pattern but have never hooked it. I have so little wall space left that I have to be judicious about what I hook – there is only one spot where I change out patterns by the season and they have to be a specific size. I realised I could, with a few adjustments, hook this fabulous pattern but first I decided to mini punch it. So here it is – Eat Crow in miniature – and now I am anxious to play with the larger hooked version…

First, though, I have to decide what he will be mounted on – another wonderful piece of 150+ year old barnwood; an old shoe shine box perhaps painted mustard and grunged up???? So stay tuned both for the finished mounted version of Eat Crow and the hooked version (bought the perfect ball of Malibrigo Rasta to work into his wings!!! for texture and delight).

If you are interested in this pattern I have it in both rughooking on linen and mini punch needle on weavers cloth. I started it on Thursday and finished it this morning…

FINISHED…

The last few days I have been punching and finishing a few fun pieces. Sadly, my week of creativity with Diane was cut short (but we have planned another week coming up so something to look forward to) but I have pretended I have my creative buddy here and worked hard…

Mounted Jackie’s pooch Isaac on an antique clip board…

Jonah in the Whale (not sure if that is the title of this fun pattern by Woolensails – Debbie St. Germain) punched with. my hand dyed fingering yarns and mounted on a funky but solid piece of 150+ year old barnwood)…(for sale in my Finished items for sale page)

2 more Spotted Pony (again not sure of the name of the pattern by Not Forgotten Farm but this is what I call it) for Doris – one unmounted that she is going to mount herself and one mounted on an antique potato grater…One done in Valdani threads and one in my hand dyed fingering yarn…

My Sheep in the Meadow mounted on another piece of the 150+ year old barnwood this time sanded and beeswaxed … (for sale in my Finished Items for sale page)

And a lovely piece by Linda which was mounted on a lovely old carved box and donated to the local Humane Society auction…
