Well when you go away in December for a few weeks all of a sudden CHRISTMAS IS ALMOST HERE – and I am not ready! Did I not count the days that would be left in between returning from Florida and Christmas Eve. Nope – guess not! Oh well, we had a wonderful trip and came home refreshed and ready to decorate. Chopped down a tree – well no actually just toted that Charlie Brown tree up from the storage room, unwrapped it and plugged it in! Et voila – instant Christmas. All the wonderful decorations remind me of so many trips and friends and ornie exchanges. Unfortunately, either the toting or wrapping bent a few branches out of shape so it is looking much more Charlie Brown-ish – which actually is not a bad thing! Pulled out all the rest of the decorations and gradually am spreading them throughout the house. It will not be overdecorated (which also is not a bad thing!) – just the right amount for me. Even found the yule log channel on the TV with Christmas music until I pull out all my favourite CD’s. Now just the baking – well not THAT MUCH baking! and hmmm a few Christmas presents and I will be ready.
The trip was wonderful – warm and breezy. We visited a few fun and interesting places – the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, the Edison/Ford Museum in Fort Myers, The Everglades (where I got to hold a little baby alligator – well a two foot alligator to be honest), highway 29 where we drove through the PANTHER PRESERVE – yikes – no panthers but hmmm 7 alligators on the side of the highway!!!, Sanibel Island and Cape Coral. So nice but at the same time a little weird to see Christmas decorations and palm trees in the same spot!
Even did a bit of hooking while I sat around the pool. So a few pictures to share:
Baby Gator and hmmm is that me? nooooo cannot be – I’m not THAT old haha – must have been the shock of holding a live gator that aged me…
The Lanai of the house we rented…

Karen D hooked Karen T’s Mr. Wynter – the background was a recycled coat which she did not even have to felt…
My runner for Bonnie – all finished… (this was a Karla Gerard pattern which I doubled so that I had a 57 inch runner for Bonnie’s harvest table)…

annnnndd now…. drumroll please…. our Westport Hookin info – please note the new date – early July so that maybe we can actually sit outside and enjoy the warm breezes off the lake while we hook ….
