The last few days have been heavenly. We have been home, finally, for a few days and have spent mornings on the dock having coffee and afternoons out on the pontoon boat swimming and reading (too hot to hook!). Yesterday as I lounged on the dock at around 7 a.m. I heard Graaaaakkk Graaaaaakkkkkk (can you hear that?) and two beautiful herons flew into the huge pine trees that line our little piece of shoreline and sat there for about 10 minutes. It was glorious!!!!
Dock days have been few and far between this summer as we are moving my mom from 5 hours away to Kingston so that we can spend more time with her and have her close by and safe. This means a lot of time has been spent trying to clear out the house for sale and packing stuff to bring to her new apartment. Plus, we have had a few medical emergencies and unfortunately last Thursday I missed Karen Kaiser’s wonderful waterside hookin. Everyone that I have spoken with who attended said it was a fabulous day – great weather and of course a beautiful venue with lots of wonderful rugs being worked on and new and returning vendors. This Thursday, however, I will be vending at the Prince Edward District Women’s Institute Art and Craft Sale in Picton at the fairgrounds. You can find me in my usual spot in the curling rink so hopefully some of you can make it to this fun show. Doors open from 9 – 7… So, of necessity, very little hooking has been going on in my house, however, I did finish hooking a Celtic knot that I have made into a pillow – in willllllddd colours (well for me they are wild). I did this in 6, 8 and 8.5 cuts and will be offering this as a pattern/kit…
Plus I finished a small piece as a topper for an antique stool(somewhat more my style in those old dirty colours!)…
and another little stool I painted and distressed and hooked a topper for…(well this was actually done months ago)
And a few other pictures to share: Trish’s geometric bench pad…
Delande’s motorcycle based on a photo of her son’s bike…

WONDERFUL SUMMER DAYS…
with cool nights and little humidity… Finally, my kind of summer! But have they been spent hooking – not really! But others have certainly been busy so here are a few pix: First, pictures of some of the rugs from the Brockville Thousand Islanders Garden Party hookin last week held in Mallorytown – what amazing weather we had considering the predictions were for heat humidity and thunderstorms! and what a lovely location as you can see from a few of the pictures. Thank you to the ladies who organized this lovely event!
and a few more shared by friends: Helen’s 2 Karla Gerard patterns made up as fun pillows and her latest mini landscape…
