PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY FIBREFEST…

was wonderful! For a fairly new fibre show (this was only the second year) it had a great turnout of folks looking for yarns, roving, wool, threads, patterns, kits, felting supplies and finished items. Held in the well lit arena at the fairgrounds in Picton with food vendors outside! yeah! not a long walk for a nibble or two! Here are some pix of the vendors…

and a few pictures of pieces that people have sent me…

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY FIBRE FEST…

is being held this coming Saturday May 26 at the Picton Fairgrounds. All things fibre – hooking, knitting, felting etc. vendors! Hope to see some of you there. And next Saturday, June 2 is the Moira Matmakers hookin at the Wellness centre in Belleville (these are both in Ontario for those of you who live far away!) and all are welcome. Again there will be a number of vendors of rughooking supplies… I will be vending at both and am packing bags today – well starting!

A few lovely rugs and punch needle pieces to share…

Sherri is working on a purse for our workshop in June… Andrea did a punch needle… and hooked version of Dahlov Ipkar’s Tumbling Cats… Louise’s latest punch needle of the Sandbanks Provincial Park in PEC… After taking Deanne Fitzpatrick’s online course Tara designed and hooked this beautiful piece… Joan’s finished first hooked piece… Michelle’s punch needle version of Red Bird (one of my Karla Gerard patterns)…

and now for some amazing pieces that formed a show called HOOPla. Elizabeth sent me this explanation of the exhibit and these beautiful pictures:

“Basically CASA ( the centre for Art in Southern  Alberta ) teamed up with a Lethbridge centre for adults with special needs . The folks from the CASA Surface Textile Design Group introduced the members to a variety of techniques:  embroidery, quillies, embellishment and primarily rug hooking. First linen was placed in an embroidery hoop then whipped into place. Colour choices were made ( the artists claimed that this was a really fun part).”…

Another use for all those wonderful old wooden hoops!! darn and I just donated a bunch to our guild auction (although I diddddd keep a couple for me :-)))

MISSING IN ACTION?

Yup it has been a long time between posts! The last few weeks have been very stressful and extremely sad. A big black cloud seemed to be following us. I am hoping it has now moved on and life may become a bit more normal again. So the long awaited pictures from the annual – my usual photographer was not able to join me that weekend as he had other commitments so only a very few and not so well taken pix and I apologize, but no names of the artists or designers. But I hope you enjoy what we have. Oh and yup some may be a tad cockeyed or duplicated but more to enjoy! I do believe either the Olde Forge Rughooking branch or the OHCG will be posting the pix (taken by a REAL photographer) on their websites and once I see them there I will share a link, but for now enjoy…
