SUNDANCE ARTISAN FESTIVAL…(formerly Sundance Studio Tour)

WELLLL I have been told! Got a comment on a post I made 3 years ago about Sundance Studio Tour ending, to the effect that I was not up to date and supportive of this show. I TOTALLLLLLY support this show (please note though that Sundance Studio Tour IS no more and is now actually the Sundance Artisan Festival and is no longer at the old location of 3 years ago i.e. Carmen’s lovely home and gardens, but at the corner of highway 36 and highway 7 behind the Fall River Pub in Maberly). So I was not totallllly wrong! But I do admit, that I do not post about every possible show that is going on in the area. So please visit the show if you can this weekend – it is fabulous and you will not regret the drive. Great artists, food and music.

Check out the website http://www.sundancestudio.ca for more details. I apologize to everyone! Mea Culpa!

Oh by the way – I am not there 🙂

TWIST!!!

was wonderful! If you love all things fibre it is a great show to go to. 60+ vendors of yarns, handspun, roving, sari silks, chiffons etc. – all wonderful alternative fibres for us to use in our hooking – or if you love to knit, crochet, stitch (Penelope had lots of lovely Valdani threads), needle felt, wet felt – again lots of great supplies. Plus finished pieces by various artists including weaving, paverpol, felted items, knit items. I had such fun – renewed my French and hooked and yacked about rughooking for 2 full days. Here are a few pix.

AND THE LAST…

Went out this morning and heard muttering up in the tree – well more like squawking! I thought it was a squirrel warning all the other squirrels to not come anywhere near its supply of nuts but hmmmm there was a realllllly rank smell and when I looked up the tree there was Momma porcupine and in another fork of the tree what looked like a grown up baby porky. The ground was littered with small branches that they had dropped during their eating frenzy. Now this is not a tree I love, it has bugs as the woodpeckers have been at it and IT IS NOT MY WOODEN HOUSE. So EAT AWAY!!!! and stay far from my steps which have been repaired and restained!!!

These are the final pix of the rug show – there were sooooo many rugs I did not get an opportunity to photograph but I am sure you get the picture – the show was amazing. So nice to see some of the rugs from the Celebrations magazine in real life and wow to see so many Canadian rugs! Hope you enjoy the last few pix…

Off to TWIST tomorrow – hope to get a few pix of the vendors there and maybe see some of you!…

MORE SAUDER PIX…

Ahhhh what a wonderful day – cool damp morning, a bit of fog but blue skies and the promise of a not too hot day. But what is that pitter patter I hear – rain? Nope it’s the squirrels who have climbed the oak trees and are dropping acorns. So on the way to the dock we had to watch out for food falling from the heavens! clunky food!

And now, a few more pix of the rug show:

SAUDER WAS WONDERFUL!!!

Took us 11 hours – many pit stops en route but no stopping to go junkin ALTHOUGH we did pass an antique store that looked pretty promising. But we were on a mission so NOOOO junkin!!!!

The venue for the show is lovely – a small, heritage museum with many different artisans including a broom maker, spinner, weaver, tinsmith, blacksmith etc. housed in 1800’s buildings moved to the site. The rug show was fabulous and I took lots of pix and over the next few days will try to post them all (before I leave for TWIST). As much as I could I tried to include in the picture who the piece was hooked and designed by but sometimes it just did not work. I really don’t know who most of the designers or hookers are so bear with me…

This design is by Nola Heidebreider(boy I hope I spelled that right Nola)…
