AMAZING CLASS…

I just finished taking a 3 day class with Wendie Scott Davis on hooking portraits. What an amazing class – I am exhausted (as are we all) but so love my piece (although it is not yet quite finished. We started by sending Wendie a photograph we wanted to work on – Wendie then used various computer programmes to send us images that showed where the various values should be placed and then the actual picture of the colours and values of those colours. We then either picked through our stashes or dyed wool or bought wool and drew out our patterns from a line drawing. And then Wendie spent time working with us on eyes, teeth, mouths, ears etc. As you can see from the pictures of what we were working on she is an exceptional teacher and we all came out with amazing pieces.  When they are all done I will post final pictures with the original photograph… (oh and hmmmm, I worked in cuts I have not even seen in any of my rugs in 20+ years – 4 and 5!!! – thread!!! 🙂 )…

Louise’s Grandson… My crazy Dad… Karen’s granddaughter… Andrea’s daughter… Wendy’s granddaughter…
Edith’s mom… piles and piles of wool everywhere…

  3. Wow! I am very impressed with everyone’s work. I hadn’t thought I would ever want to try a portrait rug, but may have to change my mind!

  4. Hello Loretta, Thank you for sending this very exciting newsletter. Where did you take this class? It looks very interesting. Will Wendie Scott Davis be giving this workshop at Hooked on the Lake or at another location in the near future?  I really enjoyed your workshop at Fibrefest in Almonte.  Sincerely, Carol Bretzloff-Holmes

  11. Those are some amazing portraits! When will she be teaching again? Still in Halifax, missing home but have to stay until my babies don’t need me… and seeing as the house could have burnt down from faulty wiring it could be at least another week…or two!
