CHRISTMAS IN JULY…

Well, with the weather today it appears we may actually be getting closer to summery weather. Yesterday was beautiful – so lovely in fact that I spent a few hours working on gardens and then a few more working on my back and shoulder!!!  But the sun warming me up made it all worthwhile. And these jobs need to be done before the nasty black flies discover that it is hmmmm, spring!!!!

So, with the heat of summer looming, Carol and I have decided we will need a wintery celebration at the end of July so we are offering 2 workshops.  Carol will be teaching her WOOLLY FEATHER TREES and I will be teaching WOOL APPLIQUE MITTENS. We will both be teaching these workshops at Fibrefest in Almonte in September (you can now register for the workshops on the website for Almonte Fibrefest http://almontefibrefest.ca/workshops/) but for those who cannot make it we thought we would have a mid-summer Christmas workshop. Details on the workshops and how you can register are shown below. Both workshops will be held July 27(Saturday) here at the studio from 10:30 – 3:30 with a break for lunch 12:30 – 1:30. After the workshops, if weather is nice, Captain Highliner will offer boat and swimming excursions! Please register early as space is limited…

WOOLLY FEATHER TREES:

Come and make a woolly feather tree. These cute little trees are great for Christmas or any time of
year. The kit includes dowel, wool, wire, floral tape, clothes pin and a base.I will supply the glue.

Please bring a ruler, sharp pointy scissors (your bent scissors work well), a sharpie marker and an
old coffee mug, that you can use to hold the bottle of glue upside down, it helps things move along
quicker. If you don’t have one don’t worry about it, there is lots of time to get the tree finished.

Workshop fee $40.00 (includes lunch and snacks); Supply fee $40.00. Please register by emailing me at cshewan@kingston.net – deposit of workshop fee will hold your spot.

WOOL APPLIQUE MITTENS:

Let’s get ready for Christmas and the winter early by making these wonderful wool appliqué mittens.

Kit includes pattern by Rebekah Smith, wool for both mittens and freezer paper.

You will need to bring along a good pair of long scissors, crewel needle and embroidery thread. Valdani threads can be purchased in the studio.

Workshop fee $40.00 (includes lunch and snacks); Supply fee $50.00 plus HST. Please register by emailing me at hookedonthelake@kingston.net – deposit of workshop fee will hold your spot.
