OLDE FORGE HOOKIN …

Was such fun – over 100 hookers braved the rain, cold and snow – YES SNOW!!!! to come and be inspired, entertained and eat really delicious treats. Thank you to the ladies who organized this year’s hook in and worked so hard to make it a wonderful day for all. We all get to see people we often only see once a year. We get to see the progress on rugs that we have perhaps not seen in a while and we have such a fun day. Vendors this year were amazing! I ended up bringing home a couple of Jacques’ cutter boxes – these are based on a vintage shoe shine box I discovered in a junk store. I thought hmmmm – I am not shining any shoes! but I realized I could attach my Townsend or Rigby cutter to the handle (because many of the hookins or retreats I go to don’t have tables that are the right thickness for my cutters) and allllll my strips fall into the box below and at the end of the day I can just drop (well gently) my cutter into the box. Ahhhh there is ALWAYS a good use for junk! Anyway a few months ago I showed my shoe shine box to Jacques and voila – he designed an even BETTER one – higher so you don’t have to lean over as far, wider handle and BIGGER BOX! So I now have a few in stock and am selling them. So, if, like me, you have found it a bit of a hunt to find a table where you can mount your cutter when you go to an event and you think you you might like one of these amazing carrier/boxes/portable tables give me a shout…

Although I did NO HOOKING at the hookin – I did finish a commissioned piece just before I left. It is an Old Tattered Flag pattern and I had such fun dyeing the wool and hooking it for a friend. The best thing is it will belong to someone else and won’t be mine 🙂 . I counted up the rugs I have hanging and lying all over the house and oh my I think there are over 30 NOT INCLUDING the ones packaged away in my cabinet! or hanging in the studio !!!! soooo I am thrilled to be able to hook and NOT add to my collection of rugs 🙂 .

And, finally, I painted and distressed a little antique footstool and attached a small rug that has been hanging around unfinished for way tooooooo long!…

Hi!! I just showed that shoe box to my friend Andrea and she is thinking that this would be perfect for her. How much are you selling them for?

  3. Hi Loretta hope you had a good winter. It is nice to see all the melting snow though. I know your home is high up so no worries about flooding. I was looking at the shoe shine boxes that you are now carrying. Would it work for my Fraser Cutter? How much do they sell for?

    Thank you
