PRINCE EDWARD DISTRICT WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ART AND CRAFT SHOW

This Thursday I will be in Picton (Ontario) at the fairgrounds taking part in the PEDWI Art and Craft Show. I will be in my usual location in the Curling rink along with patterns, wool, kits and punch needle supplies. Coincidentally, one of my fellow vendors will be none other than Lisa Ferguson!!!! I will be bringing Lisa’s patterns for hooking and punching but you can also visit with Lisa and see (and buy!) her actual paintings and prints!!! How exciting is that! I will be introducing a few new patterns based on Lisa’s artwork shortly so stay tuned.

Today I received sad sad news. Many of you know that Montreal folk artist Doug Purdy was one of my guest artists during our Studio tours for many years. Doug’s whimsical folk art carvings flew out of the house even BEFORE the show started! Sadly, Doug passed away a few days ago. His humour and gentle nature will be missed…

  1. So sad to hear about Doug. I loved his carvings. I bought a few for myself that will I will pass on to my children. I hope your classes on Sunday went well.

  4. I am so very sad to hear about Doug Purdy’s passing. I loved chatting with him at craft fairs and will now treasure his pieces even more. My condolences to family, friends, and fellow crafters. How sad that there will be no more Doug critters and fat, jolly elves but the world is a better place with all his carvings in it.

  7. Thanks, Loretta, what sad news! I have many of Doug’s pieces and have been to his home in Verdun. I am shocked! I invited him to our Beaconsfield picnic in June but he was so busy, he couldn’t attend. Thanks for the information. Candace Fradette
